Logged into #Ring / #Jami to add @davehunt and @bobjonkman and see if it has improved since my contacts abandoned it after an update forced contact re-requests.

@bobjonkman and I exchanged a few text messages; discovered that the client only presents notification on new messages when application does not have focus. We didn't try a phone call. Where are the menus that offer options like file xfer, conferences, and screen sharing?

@davehunt @bobjonkman I do not believe any of those exist yet. I did see that there is a presence indicator now. Previously, I had to send a message and see if it went through in order to know whether someone is present.

I have experienced ring/jamy for quite some time and I don't know what happened to them because in 2017, cross platform worked perfectly and suddenly mid 2017 it doesn't on work windows 7 anymore. There are some functions that disappear and comes back. I find it quite not usable for the normal user right now and it's distressing from my perspective since I'm trying to migrate my fam on it.

Can't migrate friends or fam to this yet. Many are skypers with iThings.

WEll, that makes it easier to get them using as much #FLOS as possible.

I made the mistake of trying to get a group of family members to migrate to #Ring / #Jami about 18 months ago. At the time, there was no presence indicator, so it was "send message, hope the other party is there to receive it; oops, message is hung up trying to send, I guess they aren't online right now".

Then came an update that meant needing to re-request connection with all my contacts, and that was it. A single contact confirmed connection, but I never again successfully sent or received a message*, and they all stopped using it.

                * I believe I successfully sent one message to BobJonkman a day or two ago, but he was away, so no answer was received.

Yup, I got an invite to add you to my #Jami addressbook (and did so). Sent you a reply -- I see a green dot on your avatar, which I think means you're online. But you're probably AFK, just like I was for most of the day.
