After the nth time of something falling out of the fridge and shattering on the ceramic tile (this is the first house we haven't had carpet(!) or vinyl in the kitchen), Carl ordered a squishy kitchen mat to go in front of the fridge. He put it down and said, "There, now [teenager] won't experience leg fatigue while standing in front of the open fridge."

(Also he went to put the box by the door for recycling, turned around, and Ramses was already sitting on the mat because he *is* a cat.)
