    Any thoughts on why a file getting back might cause slowness. A decade ago, I'd be suspicious of a failing disk, but is that still likely in the land of SSD?

    I haven't actually verified this, but that's what customer is reporting. !sysadmin

      @musicman SSDs fail with alarming frequency, especially in write-heavy situations. In $EMPLOYER, we're losing close to 1% per week.
