    @aparrish That some say programming is something mostly men are interested in is definitely misogynist. This particular type of misogyny has actually been around for ages and extends to nearly every field where there is wealth and power to be found -- medicine, law, executive management, science and engineering, elected office, and so many others.

    It's incredibly satisfying to see some change in this regard, while we have so much farther to go.

      @aparrish The gradual progress toward equality in the workplace -- and the urgency in which we need it -- encourages me to go further in my career, to try my best to be an example for others.

      I hope those things motivate women of all backgrounds to enter male dominated fields and do the same (I realise how hard that may be for many women).

        @aparrish When we finally achieve equality, the world will, of course, be an astoundingly better place. Imagine what things will be like when 50% of the world's doctors, lawyers, politicians, and techies are women. :)
