Today I learned that the town I grew up in was a hotbed of KKK activity in the 1920s. It's a bit distressing.

I was amazed to find out that the KKK even took root in !Canada in the 1920s. Apparently they were actually burning crosses in the hills around my town (Burlington), robes, hoods, and all, and even carried out an operation where they burned a cross on a local lawn while separating a black veteran from a white woman who wanted to marry. The cops just let it happen, and mayor of Burlington supported the KKK.
