Matthew Skala@LWFlouisa I don't understand what you mean by "be able to connect to a host from that laptop from another device." Do you mean connect the other device to a *server* running on the laptop (such as a file share or Web server), or connect to literally a *host* (meaning some third computer elsewhere)? Either is possible but the second is more complicated.
Assuming the first: it's fine, you just turn IP forwarding off (which may be the default configuration anyway).
