SidCanada had a "Boaty McBoatface" situation when they split the Northwest Territories to make Nunavut. they were thinking about renaming the NT, and several names were suggested. A campaign to name the land Bob began as a joke, but soon became the top result in opinion polls. the province is still called the Northwest Territories.
