Under the current #NZ law, a person working 40 hours a week on minimum wage earns NZ$66,000 over 2 years, and pays tax on every cent (plus GST when they spend it). While a person who can afford to own a property they don't live in, can pull in something like NZ$123,650 in capital gains over 2 years - more than twice as much money for doing *no* work - and not pay a red cent of tax on that income.
