I work for an IT company as a developer, and the sysadmins can be royal pricks at times. I know enough about their job that I could do half of it myself, and I can tell when they're just being sadistic and exercising power as a form of ego masturbation. They love the power of their root prompt. I find it pathetic.

I was offered server space on my employer's infrastructure and I accepted it, but it's managed the Operations people, and I'm not sure I want it anymore, because they like to keep you waiting while they type sarcastic remarks in the chat room. They can't refuse to do work-related things for you, but they can keep you waiting and be dicks about it. I suspect they do it because they want to knock me down a few steps.

Office politics is so extremely stupid, especially in a flat company like this, where promotions don't give you a wage bump.
