Random thought I had while watching dozens of birds foraging all over our garden -
....

Most organisms don't get to choose what they are.

For example: it is highly unlikely that a natural parasite will ever *change* and become something that lives symbiotically with its host.

We humans, on the other hand, do have a choice.

We can stop being "the parasite" and learn to live symbiotically with our host.
