    This pattern is one of the most annoying patterns on the web. "Sign In" is low priority or almost hidden, so often I end up clicking the "Sign Up" button when I just want to interact with the website.

    imo, your current users should be just as important as your future users - thus you should have signing in be on similar priority to signing up.

      @brainblasted This bugged me too. But I always clear history/cookies when closing the browser. So I did wonder if part of the rationale for this is that for 99% of people, if you've already signed up, then you are likely to be automatically logged in next time you visit. So the use case of needing to see a 'sign in' button is rare.
