Brian ÓI just watched Going Clear. I've always heard that cult leaders are charismatic, but in the clips they included, L. Ron Hubbard just seemed like kind of a creep. His demeanor seemed very artificial and off-putting. Maybe he put off some alien pheromone that got people to like him. David Miscavige, the current head of the cult seems like a much more magnetic person. Stilla huckster to be sure, but not gross in the way Hubbard was.
