i do have a working converter that is basically lossless for Mastodon 2.7 to Pleroma.

however, this works by generating a dump file that is imported, so i need to merge some tools into Pleroma to handle importing a dump file first.

one of the reasons why this has taken a while, however, is that I am quite concerned about what social effects may happen if a converter is publicly released.

i would be very disappointed to see mastodon admins migrate to pleroma and bring toxic bullshit like cancel culture with them.

beyond that, our general strategy for growing Pleroma doesn't have much to do with cannibalizing Mastodon instances, which is what a conversion tool will ultimately do.
