    @maiyannah @Codeawayhaley @bob Depending on your hosting, they may terminate your arrangement and send you scrambling rather than deal with a DDOS. A few years ago, that was why Cloudflare seemed like a good deal to many people.

      @lnxw37a2 @codeawayhaley@mastodon.starrevolution.org @bob Only if you're going with the lowest-common denominator hosting, where they make pennies on the dollar to begin with.  A lot of people go with cheap 2$ shared hosting or 5$ VPSes and then rage and rant when they get cut off.  There is a such thing as you get what you pay for, and most cheap hosting companies only make money if they oversell aggressively and you use only a fraction of what you're promised.
