We've got two Internet liberation camps who have overlapping goals, but very different methods:

1. The Federation Camp

2. The Blockchain Camp

If you look at what developers are experimenting with in both camps, a lot of it is basically attempts at making alternatives to Twitter, Instagram and Reddit (no one seems to want to be Facebook), with the goal of freeing Internet users from centralised funnels and cloud providers.
