@xj9 They aren't even okay as usernames. If an account is compromised in any way, how do you create a separate new account?

When the Chinese Army obtained my fingerprints, they gained the ability to create accounts as "me" anywhere that uses biometrics. It is time to debunk biometrics as authentication for the alchemy that it is.

BTW they obtained them without needing physical access, because your information has to be stored on a server somewhere for biometric authentication to work.

@lnxw48a1 @bob @iliana@cybre.space @xj9@social.sunshinegardens.org Biometrics is not any measure of security, and anything which requires actual security here, such as the government and especially DND and CSEC, don't use them.

Biometrics has been pressed into service as "security" because storing them gives the data giants a virtual treasure trove of deeply personal information about you, and they are more reliable a way to tie multiple profiles from a single person.  Their use has nothing to do with security.
