   "Debate me," the enlighten centrist screamed, "for I am privileged and politics is basically a philosophical game for me. I am basically unaffected by the changing of governments, because I am among the most privileged in society and it would take a truly radical shift to change that fact. This is all a game to me. It has no material impact on my life and I have abstracted it so much in my mind that I can't imagine it having a real impact on anyone else, either."

      I mean, I get that attitude. That could easily be me, except that I was once poor and so I know better. I am that privileged jerk, except that I know politics and who is in power actually does matter a lot to most people. The changing of the guard, as it were, mostly doesn't affect me. But when I vote I don't think about how it will benefit me, personally. I think about who will do the best for the most people (or at least who'll do the least harm).
