    @opendork > Was very odd to vote for a candidate because of them and not the party tbh.

    The most recent AB election was nice for me in that way: the person I thought was the best candidate also represented the party I would have "strategically" voted for regardless of who was the candidate.

    It helped that she's been super involved in the community and basically campaigning for two years, unlike the person from the other major party, who I'd never even heard of before.

      @opendork In fact, literally every candidate for even the minor parties was a known community figure. Only the UCP candidate was largely unknown to the community at large. She lost by a landslide for a number of reasons, but I have to imagine the lack of name recognition didn't help.
