brennen@liw @cstanhope my sincere view on this is that general-purpose computation is best thought of as a sort of plague, and the more of our technological and culture landscape it infects, the more we will eventually regret it.
(it is not a coincidence that i hold this view after working for roughly a decade in an industry devoted to enabling the putting of tiny computers into more and more things.)
