So in light if seeing someone actually saying they don't believe they should have public discussions about politics since neither party benefits

you have to understand that someone disagreeing with you and dissecting your opinions is a very welcome inevitability, these are people (likely with experience in whatever you're talking about) who are trying to help you improve

if that's something you don't want, you really need to evaluate why you share your opinions
