I've just finished watching the 1972 Russian rendition of "Solaris". I have to say, apart from being glacial (I had to watch it in two sittings), it's fascinating.
Curiously casted, with unexpected esthetics (who would have thought Russian space stations had candle-lit, wood paneled libraries, and astronauts wore leather jackets and fish-net shirts? Oh, and if course: smoking in space.
Nevertheless, a very interesting movie about trying to understand the human condition.
