like 2 b perfectly clear: foss as a philosophy has problems; rms is intensely problematic; there's room for huge amounts of valid debate around copyleft and non-commercial and all over the place.

but.

by in large, the people who are currently loudly going on about foss aren't actually proponents of actual foss ( whatever your opinions of that are )

they're just turning it into a dog whistle. like they did with free speech. and cutesy talk. and everything else.
