Reading Doctorow is a sort of hate-read for me because of those, because they get in the way of his stuff.

The recent NYTimes Op-Ed is a good, short example of how if he'd drop that stuff, it'd all come across a lot better.

Back to thufie's OP: that is really tight. I do vintage computing and the mention of decnet had me giggling :D
