My weight loss after the gastric bypass surgery had almost stopped, and I wasn't at my target weight yet, and I just couldn't find the strength to eat even less than I was already doing.

ADHD medications were the missing piece. I turn into a food nazi when I take them.

If I take too much, I get borderline OCD and insist on ridiculous levels of orderliness.

The basics, like orderliness and portion control, seem to kick in at lower doses than the motivation to endure hard work.

I feel so weird about these medications, because taking them is like experiencing years of maturation in a matter of hours, and I can never quite get over it, because my perspective on things, and what I prioritise, changes so much.

They're all sensible changes, but it sort of feels like a loss, because I'm not as carefree.

Tuning out and relaxing takes active effort, because all my brain wants to do is think about housework, finances and work.
