    The resistor cycle:

    1. Need on 15k resistor
    2. Buy "assorted resistors pack" with 1000 resistors
    3. Use resistor
    4. Put resistors in storage somewhere because you don't need resistors all the time.
    5. Forget where you put them
    6. Go to 1.

ENDGAME is of course finding the old resistor pack when you put the new ones away.

@lain Ugh, I'm so bad at this. I don't even buy the big assorted packs, I try to just buy what I need. But then I get in a situation where it's like "Oh, I need such-and-such a resistor. Do I have one of those squirreled away from an old project? I could go spend half an hour rummaging through junk piles, or I could just add ten of them to this order of other parts for a couple of cents". So I buy 10, use less than 10, put the rest in the junk pile and repeat.
