Just watched the first ten minutes of the new Evangelion film that was previewed at Japan Expo. Evangelion is STILL after all this time something unlike anything else I can think of.

The way it manages to build up both tension and unease, and release it again in an action scene is not something I've seen done elsewhere quite as well. The way it dances along the edge of making sense and surrealism without ever quite falling off is also amazing.
