Ya know, this BBS thing makes me want to fire up my old board (which I believe still exists in some capacity on some drive somewhere)... It, interestingly now, met the criteria for why WWIV created it's own proprietary network...
I believe the quote from FidoNet admins was "Any WWIV board should be considered a hacker/pirate board and shouldn't be allowed access to Fido). That whole deal was amusing, because it was, at the time, the only board you could get source code for, which lead to a "reputation" much like slackware linux had later (a hacker thing). I feel like Wane and Pat could have been good friends (maybe they were)...
