    @feld @succfemboi @anna

    well, i interact with stallman from time to time.

    but that's not why we have no interest in being a GNU project.

    the reason why we have no interest in being a GNU project is actually quite simple: there is nothing of value to us in being a GNU project.

    the failure of the GNU.io initiatives (including GNU Social) proves that the FSF is not equipped to build the underlying project infrastructure (such as organizing people and advocacy) for projects in the SNS space.

    and so, we had to build everything ourselves -- the code, the community, the sponsors. you of all people should know that, since you've busted your ass building it ;)

    and since we have had to build it all ourselves, what point is there in being affiliated with GNU?
