      @Ste1lar If your instance is connected to a poorly moderated or hate speech instance, it allows that junk to be passed on to other instances it federates with.

      So it makes perfect sense that admins would ban an instance that federates with those that federate with instances that allow hate speech or other things that violate their own policies.

         @Ste1lar Additionally, if you are a "free speech" crusader who thinks people should be able to say whatever they want, damn be the consequences, then it's ridiculous to complain when people block you or your instance.

         I do not know if that is how you personally feel or not.

         Other instances are obviously not obligated to federate with your instance -- regardless of their reasons -- or allow nastiness on your instance to further propagate.
