    @cobaltvelvet the NSA is big and has money, but they're not made of magic, as Bruce Schneier says. So in most cases they probably can't break crypto directly.

    I expect it's possible to defeat the NSA if you're running a distro like Arch or Gentoo on a system without a Management Engine equivalent and not doing anything silly like running Firefox as root. In that case they'll have to rely upon zero days, which is risky for them.

    There are plenty of threats other than the NSA, but I don't think we should get complacent about government interference.

      not "get complacent", more like "stop trying to fix your dystopian failure of a government by giving your money to vpns and protonmail as if it was anywhere close to a solution"; or even "throwing literal bricks would yield more results than trying to escape the nsa"
