lostinlight#privacy groups (in Friendica, Hubzilla) / aspects (in diaspora) are powerful. Apart from simplifying sharing limited content with large lists of people, they also not_disclose all the recipients in UI (unless all recipients decide to show up in comments). Without channels (present only in Hubzilla) this "content management" makes it trivial to i.e. post in different languages specifically to friends who speak this language.
