As “ferengi” is literally a pejorative term for Europeans derived from Franks (French Crusader) in Lingua Franca, which spread throughout South Asia, I had read the Star Trek Ferengi as being a mercantile and capitalist satire rather than anti-Jewish. Of course as with all things polysemic, they may be both.
