   My Grade 8 teacher introduced the unit on Communism by telling us that, from now one, everyone is going to get the same grade. It'll be Cs for everyone. I was a smart ass, so I knew something was up and didn't take the bait, but a lot of the A students were pissed and screaming how it wasn't fair. The C and D students were all, "Sweet, now I don't have to do homework!"

   Then she let it drop: "And that's how communism works..."

      Even back then, as a teenager who was a sort of primitive liberal Marxist shithead (communism is the greatest system of all, on paper, BUT WHAT ABOUT HUMAN NATURE?!), I knew she was wrong and that this was just propaganda, but I didn't have the tools to call her out...none of us did because we were 14 years old and not red diaper babies. *sigh*
