    I've had this thought in my head for a few weeks and I really want input from PoC and other minority/marginalised groups:

    Affirmative action is important to have but it is only a bandaid over the real problem.

    It's like preschool: "billy, you have to share your toys". Yes, he needs punishment for not sharing, but I feel like the actual thing to do is teach sharing in the first place so punishment isn't needed.

    So how do we teach better acceptance?

      Obviously we aren't finished until classism and racism are removed from the structures of society, and from everyone in positions of power.

      But we have this whole new generation of people coming up (Z's offspring), and I feel like we should be trying to teach them from the get-go to respect all people regardless of who or what they are.
