      A couple of quick tests you can do with a multimeter.
      If the battery drops bellow 9.6v whilst you crank the engine then it's fscked.
      If there's more 0.2v difference between the voltage at the battery end of the cable and the starter end of the cable then you have a wiring problem, maybe a bad connection or shot wire.
