      Interesting: "Security through reminders." Tod Beardsley Having the tape over your camera doesn't solve the problem of pervasive microphones and cell phone cameras, but it might remind you of the constant security threat.

      @rgggn @bobjonkman Tape over the webcam is a last-ditch defense against someone who has your device without your knowledge activating the camera. Yes, they can still capture audio, but that is less likely than video to wind up on seedy parts of the web where some acquaintance or co-worker can discover it.

            Putting tape over your webcam is effective only for those people who know better than to think that's the only security measure they need to take.
