With the heat of the Sanders campaign apparently a thing of the past, we will have a lot of time to appreciate just how far we have come in such a relatively short period, as well as to figure out how all of this will work in the future... For the past five years an American left has lived and breathed as never before, with a self-described democratic socialist coming out of nowhere (okay, Vermont isn’t nowhere, but it’s next to it) to eventually become the favorite for the Democratic presidential nomination, until the party’s mainstream/establishment contenders united behind one of their own—former Vice President Joe Biden.
