Purdue Pharma is under federal investigation for misleading marketing of oxycontin. (Purdue says oxycontin lasts 12 hours, which it doesn't, but when prescribed that way, patients can experience opiate withdrawals after every single dose, which is a great way to trigger an addiction when the opiate is potent enough. Purdue admitted to this in a similar investigation in 2007.)
