I watched Stateless, and it's pretty fucking sad. I think maybe they spent a little too much time trying to get us to empathize with Australians hang-wringing while simultaneously violently abusing refugees, rather than the refugees themselves, but maybe that's what was needed to make the audience give a shit. Apparently a white lady ending up in a detention camp was what it took for Australians to give a shit about the entire mess in real life. Maybe here in the US we need to get a white lady locked up by CBP so people will start giving a shit. IDK.
