I want a smoker. And a nice, large grill with a charcoal side and a propane side. If I ever bought them, though, I'd have them delivered to #sonTwo's place. I think they are too expensive for my level of utilization. Better to put it where we can jointly use it.

I think #sonOne already has both, but they live almost three hours apart.

@lnxw48a1 I ordered one of these and it should be here this week sometime.

Not the charcoal/gas you mentioned but I have heard many good things about them. It also doesn't have many of the "advanced" toys like WiFi. I will let you know how it goes if you are interested.

@geniusmusing I never even knew that some grills are #Wi-Fi capable. If someone wants to track what I'm eating, they can talk to my bank. No need to give them a direct line to the grill.

This was enough for me to look for a non connected one.

I "may" be lazy at times but not this lazy when food is involved.

@lnxw48a1 So I have cooked several times on this smoker/grill and here are the results.
Hamburgers: A little more flavor than on the little gas grill I had or have used in the past, with the heat set to highest level (~450F) there is minimal smoke for flavoring, also using frozen patties, time to cook is about the same as gas as well as the getting it up to temp to cook.
Steaks: Low and slow (225F) until it reaches 115F internal (it has 2 additional inputs for temp readings) about ~20-25 minutes then remove and then set to high (~450F) and finish for 10-15 minutes to ~125F -135F internal temp (they call this reverse searing), much flavor, many wow. Total time about 1 hour 15 minutes.
I do think I need some way to monitor the temp of the item cooking, I may be looking into a BT/local wifi temp probe esp if I am going to smoke something for a longer time. Maybe a good project for a Pi.
