   Well on an instance admin level, you're making choices and depriving the users / members of that ability. I agree it can be justified in some cases (for instance illegal content or instance-wide spam, gore, untagged NSFW), but as a whole, users should have blocking tools and be encouraged to use the tools themselves.

      Agreed. Also users should be aware of the blocks in place on servers.
