    I still have not seen E623 / calcium glutamate on US labels. (That does not mean the ingredient is not there, because of US labelling rules.)

    Years ago, I used to see MSG (mono sodium glutamate) on labels. Currently, a lot of US foods advertise "No MSG"

    When using foods without "flavor enhancers" added, you will have to add various herbs and spices to make up for it. Also, stick with the "No E623" version. After a while, people's tastes will adjust and the chemically enhanced versions will not taste right.
