      @mangeurdenuage There was a DotGnu project that was trying to implement the ECMA standardized parts of C# and the Common Language Runtime (to avoid any patent / copyright claims). I have heard nothing about it in a long time, so I assume it is dormant / dead.
      
      OTOH, now that Microsoft owns the company that develops Mono, many of the lawsuit risks have gone away. I'm still not comfortable enough to use it myself, but most of the *Don't Touch!* reasons are at least partially neutralized.
