Matrix.org@kuketzblog (using English as our German is terrible, sorry): The Matrix.org Foundation is described at https://matrix.org/foundation, and is this non-profit company: https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/11648710/officers. The only legal overlap with New Vector/Element is 2 directors, who founded Matrix and later Element. Donations from Patreon/Liberapay mainly go to paying the server costs for matrix.org. Matrix's code is FOSS and the contributors retain copyright... other than Element, who donates their contribs 1-way to Matrix.
