         Reading the Syllabus at the front of the ruling, it seem that #SCOTUS did not rule on the most important idsue: whether APIs are protectable in the first place. I'm really glad for the "fair use" decision, but they still potentially left every project that reimplements a popular product's API under legal threat.

            SCOTUS tends to make the narrowest decision possible. Obviously not always the case, but...tends. Thus, I'm not shocked by this.
