I love it when $EMPLOYER suddenly decides everyone must URGENTLY take a course on a topic that has nothing to do with their job. In this case, it is about a law that has been in place for decades. I’m pretty sure most people are just confused by all the wherefores and therefores of something they will never do.

If I had to guess, someone’s nephew in DC got into trouble, so now everyone must rush and take this course, instead of sending the nephew to work at Burger King 🍔 👑 .

Also, this course seems like it was just thrown out there without editing for correctness or ‘completenss’. The law has been around for a long time. They’ve had plenty of time to do this right (and to properly identify which people should take the course).

Not really complaining seriously, just grumbling about the agency suddenly making such a big deal out of this. I think someone high up needs to go see an accupuncturist and see if certain spots can produce relaxation. Or, you know, ingest some THC.

This reminds me of the time $FORMER_EMPLOYERs IT service sent out phishing emails as a test and even though some of us did the "Correct" thing, report the email to them, we all had to go to class to learn about phishing. This was due to the fact that a lot of the people failed because there was no training prior to the test. It also caused a huge PITA for HR as they had no clue that the emails sent were using a "HR" email address that didn't exist and led a lot of people to call with questions.

Still waiting for the next batch of phishing emails to go around.
