   Oh, Tristan. Unless you live on a tiny island and produce everything you need yourself, you'll have to interact with the financial system, and that only happens on the system's terms.
   
   I don't know which political-economic POV you subscribe to, but you should try to make it internally consistent enough that you can admit that you are just as much a slave to the global financial system as anyone else.
