Study: gut bacteria connected to how babies experience fear https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2021/06/210604135433.htm [www sciencedaily com]

This is just one study, but it will be interesting if it get replicated.

Bacteria are connected to how babies experience fear: New research shows that an infant's gut microbiome could contain clues to help monitor and support healthy neurological development
      from ScienceDaily
Why do some babies react to perceived danger more than others? According to new research, part of the answer may be found in a surprising place: an infant's digestive system.

While they might have caused some fear of masks in the 30 infants, they also should have tried faces with clown makeup to see if that also affected them. It could just have been a reaction to the non normal colors of faces that caused them to react.

@geniusmusing Yes. I still suspect that this will be non-replicable. But I can think of a few things they don't seem to cover,

        * Did they give the parents any pychological tests to measure their fear reactions?
        * Did they take parents' stool samples?
        * Did they swab and culture the mothers' nipples for enterobacteria?
