      I've seen speculation that #Freenode changed their server software and the new staff did not know how to import the old database into the new. (To be fair, there's almost certainly a mismatch in the schemas.)
      
      If they wanted to end the steady flow of channels and users leaving, this is one way to achieve it.

         And that was enough to bounce me out of any remaining #Freenode rooms which I was in via #Matrix. I’ll remove myself from the Matrix side of those same rooms and I’ll be good.
