I haven’t researched it, but I would assume that “bigwig” came from the days when people wore powdered wigs to look older (and therefore presumably wiser). Maybe the larger the wig, the more wisdom or authority the wearer was presumed to have.
If you’re in the mood for researching, this might be something to dig into.
As for me, I’ve got a résumé to rewrite.

No, I have not finished, but I have been working on it.
(A medical issue, plus last week's extreme temperatures, slowed things down.)

I still think you should send me what you've got. Vince was in the Navy. He knows sometimes government resumes are goofy. He might talk to you while you continue to work on it and then you can submit the final one to HR, but if I don't send something to Vince, he's not going to talk to you. At this point, it's just about showing interest.
